About
Gregory Korte is a senior White House and politics reporter for Bloomberg News, and an journalism instructor in the Honors Tutorial College at Ohio University.
Why am I getting this?
If you didn’t subscribe to this newsletter, I probably added you because you’re a close friend, family member, or I subscribe to your newsletter and thought maybe you’d return the favor. If you don’t want me clogging up your inbox, feel free to unsubscribe — I don’t want to spam you.
Who are you?
I’m Gregory Korte. I cover U.S. politics for Bloomberg News. However, my employer would like to remind you that all views in this newsletter are my own and do not reflect those of Bloomberg LP, its employees or clients.
I’m a native of Cincinnati, Ohio and graduated from the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University, where I also majored in international relations.
What’s it about?
So far I mostly know what it’s not. It’s not a place for original reporting on politics, government or economics. Sorry, I have to save that for the paying customers. I won’t be offering political opinions, rumors or gossip.
What you will get: Links to my reporting (including paywall-free versions when available), non-newsy observations, occasional behind-the-scenes glimpses into the reporting process, and perhaps a little bit about my other interests.
What are those other interests?
Data journalism, the U.S. presidency, obscure American League baseball players of the interbellum era, the social history of margarine, soccer, and the changing American city.
How much does the newsletter cost?
It’s 100% free. I believe in paying for content — and there are a few newsletters I do pay for — but I already get paid by my employer. If you really want the premium content, feel free to subscribe to Bloomberg.com, which often has introductory offers.
Why a newsletter?
I was looking for something longer form than Twitter, less chaotic than Facebook and more literate than Instagram. But I’m on those platforms as well — feel free to follow me there if that’s more your cup of tea.
Why doesn’t it have a title?
It’s still a work in progress. I need to let it decide what it is before I allow it to claim a title. Right now it’s just “Gregory’s Newsletter.” Suggestions welcome.
